On October 22 and 23, 2022, the weekend seminar of the German-Namibian Society took place in Göttingen, in which Suni e.V. participated again this year. The main topic of the event was the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Representing Suni e.V., Maren Michels had the honor to give the first presentation on Saturday, together with the board members of Welwitschia e.V.
They gave a short introduction to the main topic of the seminar as well as the term Education for Sustainable Development.
Afterwards both associations presented their work. Suni e.V. put a special focus on some subgoals of SDG4, which we as an association intensively pursue with our projects: Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship, Build and Upgrade Inclusive and Safe Schools, Increase the Supply of Qualified Teachers in Developing Countries.
To illustrate our commitment to international cooperation in the field of teacher education, we zoomed in on the participants of the current German- Namibian exchange of educators who were attending an online seminar on SDG4 at the same time.
“The feedback from the participants of the seminar on our presentation was incredibly positive. It was noticeable that there is a lot of interest in the idea of sustainability, especially in the field of education and in particular with regard to early childhood and school education. The president of DNG, Klaus Hess, thanked us by saying that with such enthusiasm and commitment, there is no need to worry about the future of German- Namibian relations.”
