There is a Baby Saver Box in Gobabis since August 2021. The Baby Saver Box is the first and only Baby Box in the Omaheke Region and is run by the Light for the Children Centre.
Mothers who feel unable or unwilling to care for their child can place their baby in the box. The child is then cared for by the Light for the Children Centre while a suitable foster family is sought in cooperation with the social worker.
